Creating a mega menu in WordPress has never been easier. Follow the steps below to build an organized and expandable navigation menu for your website using the built-in Theme Builder.
Step 1: Configure the menu
Before creating a mega menu, you must define a standard WordPress menu.
Add menu item:
- Expand Custom Links in the “Add menu item” section on the left column.

- Enter the URL and Link Text.
- Click Add to Menu.
- Add menu items under a parent menu item. These links will be displayed on mobile and tablet devices.
- Repeat these steps for other menu items.
Step 2: Create a mega menu
- Go to your site admin area → Theme Builder → Mega Menus.

- Click Add New Mega Menu.
- In the popup, select the menu name, menu item under which the mega menu should appear and choose a width.
- Click Edit with Elementor.

- Build your mega menu layout using containers and widgets.
- You can also insert pre-made templates from the Template Library (click the Key icon and search for mega menu).
- Click Update to save the template.
Optimizing the mega menu for mobile and tablet
Mega menus are not ideal for smaller screens. Complex layouts, multiple columns, or embedded widgets may negatively affect usability and performance on mobile and tablet devices. For this reason the mega menu template is hidden on tablet and mobile devices by default.
To display navigation on mobile and tablet:
- Go to Appearance → Menus.
- Add regular menu items under the parent menu item:

These menu items will be displayed on mobile and tablet devices instead of the mega menu layout.
Mega menus are best suited for desktop navigation and content-heavy websites. By combining a clean desktop mega menu with a simplified mobile menu structure, you ensure optimal usability across all devices.
